and the shenanigans of some of the art worlds major players.

All this talk brings to mind a very good quote I read recently by artist George Shaw.

When asked what is "the art world?" He responded:

"I don’t know what it is, but I can tell you that the best thing about it is art. Art is what the art world leaves behind once all the characters have fucked off, passed away, gone out of fashion, moved to their island. It’s what’s left once the tide’s gone out.’
