The first of three thematic video showcases curated by Carol Cheh, designed to highlight OCMA’s video art collection, opened this weekend at the Orange Lounge.

Mash Up (May 3 – June 13) looks at the current cultural obsession with conflating diverse elements of popular and avant-garde media to create new art that is ironic, humorous, and frequently uncanny. Works such as Joel Morrison’s Birds/Lewitt (2005), Goody-B. Wiseman’s Superlovestarpower 2, 3 and 4 (2006), Ciprian Muresan’s Un Chien Andalou (2004), and Jimmy Joe Roche’s Ultimate Reality (2007) draw from music, cinema, and the visual arts.
