It's official. The OC Art Blog is a year old today. Thank you for reading! I think I got another year in me...

Artblog has an interesting post about a Florida Gallery vetting other Florida galleries. Sounds like someone is afraid of a little competition. Do you think there are any LA gallery people involved in the vetting of other LA galleries for artLA?? ...

Colin Stewart over at Morning Eye has a very interesting post today on the connection between Maya Lin and Richard Serra. Good read. ...

Tired of hearing about John Waters yet?? Last one I promise. The LA Times went to the opening party. ...

Unfortunately I won't be attending the opening party for the John Waters show at OCMA because of an annual Halloween party I attend every year but I have to admit all this John Waters talk has inspired this years costume. Lab Coat. Check! Fake Poo. Check! Brown Makeup. Check! This is going to get messy...

Looks like OC has decided to get its public art groove on. Maybe some competition going on here? First Maya Lin at UCI and now tomorrow the Orange County Performing Arts Center will announce that it has commissioned Richard Serra to do his thing in the OC. Actually this is exciting to me. We are hitting the map so to speak. The LA Times has the whole story. ...

Ran up to Culver City on Saturday to pick up our new Robert Olsen painting from Susanne Vielmetter and catch a couple of quick shows before they came down. Two are highly recommended but they'll probably be taken down by the time you read this. Highly recommended if you ever find yourself in downtown Riverside. First stop was the Riverside Museum of art to catch the Carlos Estrada-Vega show. Next we ran into the...

Today Mrs.OCArtBlog and I have been wedded seven years (yes, we're on our way to setting all kinds of records here in Cali) So in her honor I thought I would post a work by my most favorite romantic painter, Marc Chagall. It's titled Lovers in a Red Sky, 1950. ...

Saul Fletcher is my new artist of the moment. Why you ask? Well I have been paying attention to him because I love his work and hope to have one in the collection some day, but what really bowled me over was his notice in September's Modern Painters where he mentions, after having a very successful photography career, that he is going to start painting. "I've come to the end of something in myself. I'm going to try painting. I might just wash them...

Huntington Beach Pier last night. Not a good time to be checking out the waves. ...

In regards to Jerry Saltz's annual Babylon article that everybody has commented on...
