Originally placed along the Los Angeles river, A Platform to Stand On references both classic Disney images and roadkill. With the river providing the context for the images, they become strange and beautiful portals mocking an otherwise bleak landscape and illusions that have gone slightly awry. Also on view will be two seperate videos: Erosion and Sediment,...

Before heading out to some openings Saturday night Mrs. OC Art Blog and I picked up London based artist Natasha Caruana who is in town researching her latest project on infidelity that will have its US premiere here at the Office late spring of next year. This seasons artists include Laylah Ali, Richard Tuttle, Fred Wilson, Hiroshi Sugimoto and many others. “Art:21–Art in the Twenty-First Century” is the only series on television to focus exclusively on contemporary visual art and artists in the United States,...

The news is coming out early on the big December art fairs. Line-up's can be found here and here. OC Art Blog Prediction: $75 oil, rising interest rates, housing bubble burst, lots of articles on the HOT art market/collecting art this year only means that late December is when the "Where did the art buyers go?" articles start coming out. Look for Scope Houston in 2006...

Being in HB nudged between Long Beach and OC I take notice of what local schools around here are active in the local art scene and I would have to say hands down Cal State Long Beach is the winner. I run into those students everywhere. I wish I could say the same about some other OC schools. Anyway, why don't we all return the favor and go support their little shindig this weekend called the Greater LA MFA Exhibition. Greater LA MFA features approximately...
